The UNGPs due diligence procedure
The UNGPs are a gamechanger. They are not a membership organisation but set the standards for organisations to address human rights abuses.
One of the essential elements for a company to demonstrate respect for human rights is to ensure it has developed a due diligence procedure.
Increasingly mandatory reporting legislation requires that companies demonstrate that they have appropriate due diligence procedures in place. For example, the EU non financial reporting directive, the French Vigilance law and the Australian Modern Slavery Act.
