Colleen Theron 

CEO, Ardea International 

Colleen is a tri-qualified solicitor with over 25 years’ legal and commercial experience of working with businesses and NGOs across sectors at both a strategic and operational level. She provides training to both directors and employees on human rights, modern slavery and sustainability issues. Colleen has a LLM (with distinction) in Environmental Law from the University of Aberdeen. She is recognised by The Legal 500 and Chambers and Partners as a leading environmental law practitioner. Colleen is a fellow of IEMA and a fellow at the Centre for the Study of Modern Slavery, St Mary’s University. Twickenham. She is also an independent legal consultant and consults with Re:Links. 

 

Daniel Schönfelder

European Legal Advisor, RCP 

Within the Responsible Contracting Project, his primary focus is on drafting and disseminating clauses tailored to the German and European contexts. He collaborates with stakeholders from various sectors, including business, NGOs, academia, and consultancies, to promote responsible contracting. Daniel coordinates the German Team for the project developing European Model Contract Clauses, playing a pivotal role in cultivating and sustaining relationships with key stakeholders such as academia, businesses, NGOs, consultancies, and the broader business and human rights community. 

Daniel, a German lawyer and lecturer in Business and Human Rights (BHR), is actively involved in implementing the German Supply Chain Due Diligence Act at an international logistics firm. His past experience includes contributing to the creation of the German Supply Chain Due Diligence Act, where he provided guidance to key stakeholders and decision-makers. Additionally, he advised businesses across various sectors on the act’s implementation. He is also a regular contributor to journals and books on BHR issues, and he co-authored the first handbook on the German Supply Chain Due Diligence Act. 

  

Robert de Rooy 

Founder, Creative Contracts  

Robert de Rooy is a commercial lawyer practising in Cape Town, South Africa, and the developer of Comic Contracts, the world’s first fully illustrated contract. He is the founder of Creative Contracts (Pty) Ltd. The company’s purpose is to afford vulnerable people the dignity of autonomously understanding contracts and other legal documents. He is a PhD candidate at the University of Vaasa, and adjunct associate professor at the University of Cape Town, and tries to balance his practice, business, studies and family life with some cycling and surfing.

 

 

Dr. Helena Haapio

Dr. Helena Haapio is a pioneer in Proactive Law and Legal Design, a practitioner by day and an editor and author by night. She divides her time between Lexpert Ltd, where she works as a Contract Strategist, and two  Finnish Universities: University of Vaasa, where she works as an Associate Professor of Business Law, and the JARGONFREE Contract Language research group https://projects.tuni.fi/jargonfree/ at Tampere University. Together with Stefania Passera, she created the open access, free WorldCC Contract Design Pattern Library, https://contract-design.worldcc.com/.
