Following its response to the consultation on the Modern Slavery Act (MSA), the UK Government has committed to amending section 54 of the MSA to extent to public sector bodies. This will mean that public sector bodies who have previously enjoyed flexibility to voluntarily publish a modern slavery statement will have to do so by law.
